Web round up – Cloud Convert, Dead Zed 2 & a cacophony of delights!

It’s time I did another web round up.  The nice thing about having almost all of your work done sitting at a PC, means that you have your finger on the pulse of most things of importance arriving on your lap instantly.  My Twitter, Google (and even Email) accounts deliver the latest happenings.  And it’s when things “happen” that I get diverted from my task at hand and delve into another online adventure.  An adventure I share with you.

File format, containers et al – Things that the majority of people really don’t understand. And why should they? They don’t care if the music they have is mp3 or wma, they don’t care about xvid, divx, wmv, mp4 until that is, they find that the device/software which they are using will not run them.  Most people at this point will scratch their heads then move on, for them the files simply don’t work.  For those people (and those who need a flexible converter app), those times have passed.  CloudConvert does, (unsurprisingly) the job of converting files.  CloudConvert also allows you to send your converted file to your Google Drive (providing you allow the service to connect with your drive).  An excellent web based app that works very well.

The Zombies are coming! Well they are not, but if/when they do, you’ll be well prepared if you play Dead Zed 2.  A very simple shooter that is actually quite alot of fun.  It’s a flash game and plays in your browser on whatever platform you are running.  A lovely little distraction.

Internet Explorer, do people really need telling that there are alternatives? I wouldn’t think so and the web stats for browser usage show that Internet Explorer is not the option many people want.  It also now seems that the Department of Homeland Security doesn’t want it either:

Homeland Security recommends that users or administrators “enable Microsoft EMET where possible” and to “consider employing an alternative web browser until an official update is available.”

And Mashable say:

Even Homeland Security Says Not to Use Internet Explorer

You can read the article at Mashable, but do you really need to be told about Internet Explorer these days?

It seems a day doesn’t go by without some bad press about The UKIP party.  Personally I find the UKIP party disgusting and so it is with great pleasure that I post this picture for you.

Allegedly the UKIP party are trying to stop it being spread, so of course I’ll help spread it.  Please share it around.

The picture is allegedly Nigel Farage in his youth or is it a creative piece of fakery? – Not sure, but if its something the UKIP don’t like, I’m all for showing it to you.

There are many Farage photographs out there (which are edited) and it’s reassuring to see that despite claims of popularity by UKIP, in my view, the general public are not taking him or his party seriously and think him a bit of a joke.  Time will tell.
