Web gems – Links to places/titles of interest!

Due to me being busy for a week or so, Ive only picked up a few links to share here.  Please keep emailing your suggestions and once Ive had a look at them, i’ll include them on OpenBytes.

On the 26th July 2010 a new version of  Warzone 2100 (2.3.2). For those that don’t know, Warzone was originally released  by Eidos and after petitioning of Eidos they kindly agreed to release the code into the public domain.  Its a great RTS too and the “revival team” behind it, are putting in great effort to bring you a classic title from yesteryear.  Get yourself a copy now.

“The Goblin and the Butterfly” may well win an award for most original sounding RPG title, that being said this 2d MMORG is in the early stages of development, with the developers wanting people to help out with testing/contributing etc.  Its looking very promising and a great project to get involved with.  You can visit the homepage here: http://the-green-leaf.de/tgatb.html

Ever wanted to send large files to friends?  Now its simple.  File sizes up to 2gig can be simply sent to a friend by email (obviously hosted temporarily with DropSend)  Its free too, with 5 sends a month (with each send up to 2gig).  I have to thank a Tweet by Winobs for highlighting this gem.  You can sign up for an account here.

For those people (like me) who have fond memories of TRSI and their Amiga demo’s should check out their official page here. Great times, great memories!

Thinking of parting with cash to go and see the latest franchise cash-in, take a look at my review of Predators over on IMDB, warning though it contains spoilers! – http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1424381/usercomments-150 A big thumbs down for Predators (from me) But then I didn’t expect anything else.

And finally.  Ever had problems converting files, ie 3gp – Avi? Well thats changed with this excellent online app. Convert.files allows you to upload your media after which Convert.files will give you a link to your converted file.  The range of file formats supported is massive: WMV, 3GP, FLV, MP4, MPEG, AVI, VOB, MOV, MKV, ASF, M4V, MP3, JPG to name a few and it also handles other files such as audio, image and archived.  Its a really great app and with a limit of 150mb allowed per file.
